Gran Torino

You know, I never really have watched a Clint Eastwood Movie before. And I probably never would have watched this movie had it not been for my dad. I was working with him in Anaheim and he had some movies with him for his laptop. I had watched Monsters v. Aliens and the only one I had ever heard of was Gran Torino. My dad doesn't always picks out good movies and he's a big Western fan so I was a bit hesitant about this movie.
I actually liked it, a lot. It's about this old veteran whose wife had just died and shows his spoiled, disrespectful, and unappreciative family who just cares about what they get from all their trouble. Although I admit the son does care about his fathers' well-being and tries to help him. Clint just keeps to himself and stays out of everybody's way, as long as they don't offend him. Now the people who live next to him are Asian, a brother and sister with their mom and grandmother. While the brother walks home one day his cousins are yelling at him to join their 'gang' or whatever they call it. They start harassing him and he finally gives in, and his initiation? To steal the '73 Gran Torino from his neighbor.
He gets halfway there when Clint comes out with a rifle and starts shooting random shots. So when the kid comes forward saying he tried to steal it he is forced by his mother to work for Clint for 2 weeks. During this time they form a friendship, Clint gets the kid a job and helps him build a backbone. But none of this helps him block out the gang that terrorizes him daily.
Clint really tries to help this family...but can he?
This is an inspiring movie that shows that even though not everybody can see eye to eye, they can help each other out.

The Producers

I first saw this movie when I was in my Drama class. We had a kind of free day and this was our reward movie. I thought it would be kind of weird and boring as most of the movies we had at school were. So me and my friend started playing a game of tic-tac-toe on her iTouch. We never finished that first game.
It was so funny! Nathan Lane is this failed Broadway producer that has little old ladies as his investors. Matt Broderick is a boring and hysterical accountant who has a compulsive disorder about his blanket. So when they both realize they can make more money with a flop than a hit they get the worst play ever written called 'Springtime for Hitler' by a psychotic ex-Nazi. Directed by the worst and tackiest director. And hiring the worst actors with as little experience and senses as possible. There's no way to win!!!
I love this movie, its hilarious and has an amazing cast. This is definitely a Mel Brooks movie but ten times better than Spaceballs. Its got humor that actually works into the film and not completely random and off topic!!

Avatar

Okay, I have to be brutally honest here. I've only seen the first 30 minutes of this movie. But it was enough to make me want to gouge my eyes out with a spoon. One part I thought was funny: when that guy chases off that huge monster thing. And he starts yelling 'Yeah, you better run.' But that was it.
A few years ago, I made my mother watch Epic Movie. A move I regret now because it was so, so, so bad. So her revenge for that is making me sit through a movie I would hate and she would find fantastic. And she chose this movie. After the first 30 minutes she turned to me and said 'Your excused.'
Maybe if I was into the science fiction stuff I would like it. Or the fact that I could watch Pocahontas and get the same moral. Whats the hype about this movie again? That James Cameron was ahead of his time? By thinking up giant blue people that we could ultimately destroy? Could someone please explain this to me. Because the best movie I think Cameron has done is Ghosts of the Abyss and that's because how much work could honestly go into a documentary? Plus I'm utterly obsessed with Titanic. But the actual film he did 'Titanic' was okay, not spectacular but okay.
